In 1941, attorney C. Hamilton (Ham) Moses became president of Arkansas Power and Light after the death of company founder Harvey Couch. In the mid-1940s, Moses and a group known as the Committee of 100 sought to improve the states image by promoting economic development and reversing the trend of many of the states most productive citizens leaving Arkansas for better opportunities elsewhere.
