Arkansas ranks fourth in the nation in the production of kaolin, a clay that has many industrial applications due to its composition. Kaolin was also used in the production of a very popular art pottery, Niloak (“kaolin” spelled backward), produced in the early to mid-twentieth century. Niloak remains some of the most popular collectible pottery on the market.
