Tunstall's Racetrack Site

Captain Thomas Todd Tunstall’s pre-Civil War horse-racing track was located where these chicken houses stand today at Dota (Independence County). Captain Tunstall bred champion horses and had a jockey club. Tunstall’s plantation was used as Union general Samuel Curtis’s headquarters at one time during the Union occupation of Batesville (Independence County).
