Samuel R. Fetzer Gravesite

Gravesite of Civil War captain Samuel R. Fetzer in the Fetzer Cemetery near Newark (Independence County). The Job Neill Camp No. 286 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and Albert Sidney Johnston Chapter No. 135 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy placed a tombstone at his grave to preserve his memory. A group of citizens is continuing an effort to restore the forgotten graveyard. Fetzer’s name is on the Confederate monument in the courthouse square in Batesville (Independence County).
