Aydelott Cemetery

The Aydelott Cemetery in the Oil Trough (Independence County) bottoms, all that is left of a once vibrant community on the Alfred Paisley (A. P.) Aydelott plantation in the Civil War and Reconstruction era. The Aydelott family owned and operated a general merchandise store on their farm. There was a cotton gin, a school, and a blacksmith shop that served the needs of the farmers, but Aydelott never had a post office.
