University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Athletics Hall of Fame

In 1915, intramural sports were first organized at the Agricultural, Mechanical, and Normal College (AM&N), what is now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB), leading to the creation of the Lions, the official sports mascot for the institution. UAPB joined the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), made up of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), in 1936; it left the conference in 1969. The university went through a transition period as an independent athletic program (not associated with an athletics conference) before going between the NAIA and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as a Division II Independent. The Golden Lions rejoined the SWAC as a full-time member in the 1997–98 season.

Starting in 2000, UAPB inducted its first class into the UAPB/AM&N Athletics Hall of Fame. Honorees include coaches, broadcasters, and student athletes.
