Copyright Protection
All written materials contained on the CALS Encyclopedia of Arkansas (EOA) website are protected by copyright and trademark laws and may not be reproduced, distributed, transmitted, displayed, published, or broadcast without the prior express permission of the Central Arkansas Library System, except as described below. All photographs and illustrations are copyrighted by their respective owners, as noted in the credits, save for those images in the public domain, which are labeled as such. If you wish to reproduce items of media that are not public domain, please contact the noted copyright holder.
Fair Use of Materials
Fair use of copyrighted materials encompasses non-commercial educational purposes. Such use of both media and text does not require explicit permission from the CALS Encyclopedia of Arkansas. All such cases of fair use must acknowledge and cite the CALS Encyclopedia of Arkansas, or the copyright holders of specific media items, as the source of the content in question. Moreover, fair use entails using only a portion of the copyrighted work rather than the whole. If you have questions about whether your own use of materials from the CALS Encyclopedia of Arkansas constitutes fair use, feel free to contact the editor for further guidance.
Commercial Use of Materials
Anyone wishing to republish materials from the CALS Encyclopedia of Arkansas for commercial use must receive written permission from the editor of the EOA. Contact information for EOA staff is here.
