Many fans regard Little Rock (Pulaski County) native Brooks Robinson as the best third baseman ever to have played major league baseball. During his career as a member of the Baltimore Orioles, he won sixteen straight Golden Glove awards as the top fielding third baseman in the American League. Participating in three World Series, he was chosen as the series Most Valuable Player in 1970. Robinson retired in 1977 and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983.
