Mount Ida (Montgomery County) was established as the county seat by the early 1840s. In 1842, a post office was established, and a log county courthouse, which was called the “County House,” was constructed. By the time this photograph was taken in the early 1900s, the city was experiencing steady growth. In 2010, it was home to just over 1,000 citizens.
